Paramount has expanded the cast of its remake of the 1981 supernatural thriller "Possession," adding Madeline Brewer, Emory Cohen and Nicholas Alexander Chavez alongside previously announced stars Margaret Qualley and Callum Turner. Paul Dano and Diego Calva have also joined the project, which is being directed by Parker Finn from his own script. The film marks a high-profile reimagining of a cult classic and brings together a cast known for acclaimed television and film work.

The original film follows a woman whose disturbing behaviour after asking her husband for a divorce leads to suspicions of infidelity, and eventually to something far more sinister. Finn is producing alongside Jonathan Fass (Bad Feeling), Roy Lee and Andrew Childs (Vertigo), and Robert Pattinson, with Marc Bienstock as executive producer. Brewer is known for "The Handmaid's Tale" and Netflix's "You," Cohen recently appeared in A24's "Marty Supreme," and Chavez gained acclaim playing Lyle Menendez in Ryan Murphy's "Monsters."
