American singer-songwriter Madi Diaz has announced a deluxe edition of her 2025 album Fatal Optimist, titled Fatal Optimist (UN-unplugged), due out on 4 September via Anti-. The expanded release adds four new songs, including collaborations with Lucy Dacus and August Ponthier, and reworks material Diaz originally recorded in a raw, solitary style into fuller, more confident band arrangements.

The lead single is "This Is How A Woman Leaves", a breakup song Diaz co-wrote with Sarah Buxton and country star Maren Morris. Morris first released the track on her 2024 album Intermission, with Diaz singing backing vocals; Diaz has now recorded her own version. Diaz described the song's origins in cleaning her ex's house after moving out, a moment a friend summed up with the phrase that became the title. The announcement came with a 15-track listing and a handful of US tour dates through July and August.
