Magnolia Pictures will reissue the 2003 documentary End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones in a newly restored 4K version later this year. The release coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Ramones’ debut album and will make the film available to rent and buy digitally for the first time, broadening access to a key account of the influential punk band’s history.

The documentary, directed by Michael Gramaglia and Jim Field, follows the Queens group from its 1974 emergence in New York through its global influence, long touring career and internal conflicts. Although the Ramones never topped the Billboard charts, they toured for 22 years and helped shape punk music; a tribute event featuring artists including Tim Armstrong, Billie Joe Armstrong, Travis Barker and CJ Ramone is planned for 30 August at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.
