However, the White House has dampened enthusiasm for the project, issuing a statement clarifying that it is not a presidential directive or administration priority, and that the National Park Service has not granted any permits whilst MLB has not finalised venue plans.

The logistics of staging such an event present formidable challenges, requiring temporary grandstands, light towers, traffic management, and measures to keep grizzly bears, bison and elk away from the playing area. An undertaking of this magnitude would necessitate environmental reviews, public comment periods, and extensive paperwork before construction could begin. With MLB's 2027 special-event schedule already locked, 2028 represents the earliest realistic possibility for hosting a major-league game in the national park, though a Deputy Director of the National Park Service recently visited three prospective sites in Wyoming.
