Australian women's media company Mamamia has issued a rare public statement after Claire Murphy, the former host of its podcast The Quicky, teased a forthcoming project promising to reveal inside "tea" about her old workplace. Murphy, who was made redundant in May after seven years, has framed the venture in the style of a dramatic Netflix exposé, prompting considerable interest within the company's alumni network and reigniting scrutiny of how the publisher treats its talent.

The project, trailed in a 30-second clip released on Monday, pairs Murphy with Kersh Sivakumaran, Mamamia's former head of growth and audience acquisition, who was let go at the same time. Despite its documentary-style presentation, it is not a Netflix show but a stage play. Murphy's redundancy had earlier drawn strong criticism from readers, with members of the OutLouders Facebook group reportedly warned they could be blocked for speaking ill of the company. Since her departure she has launched several new ventures, including the chart-topping news podcast The Solo Bureau.
