## Summary

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he disagrees with Hasan Piker’s remarks about Hamas, the 9/11 attacks and Iran’s nuclear ambitions, while defending his willingness to speak with the far-left streamer. Mamdani said engaging with people who hold different views is important, as appearing only with those who agree can narrow one’s perspective.

Piker has drawn criticism for comments portraying Hamas favourably, saying the United States deserved the 9/11 attacks and suggesting the region would be more stable with a nuclear-armed Iran. His rhetoric has become a focus for Republicans seeking to portray progressive Democrats as extremists. Mamdani’s interview also addressed his Democratic Socialists of America membership and campaign proposals, including a $30 minimum wage and free buses.
