New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has extended the deadline for homeowners to apply for an exemption from the city’s new pied-à-terre tax, which took effect on 1 July. The extension gives potentially eligible owners more time to seek relief from a tax aimed at certain non-primary residences.

Homeowners across all five boroughs now have until 18 September to submit an exemption application, according to City Hall. The previous deadline was 21 August, meaning applicants have been given an additional month.
