Telford man charged after allegedly seizing bus and crashing into cars

A 33-year-old man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a bus driver, taking control of a bus in Madeley, Telford, and crashing it into several parked cars. Police arrested him after the incident on Friday evening; the driver suffered minor injuries, while no other injuries were reported.

Ali Balhad is accused of aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, robbery, thefts from stores, three counts of criminal damage, assault, attempted grievous bodily harm and making threats to kill. Armed officers attended shortly after 6.30pm, and Balhad was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at Telford Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
