A 43-year-old Swiss man has been arrested after a shooting at a techno rave in Aarau, Switzerland, killed a 22-year-old Italian woman and injured five other people. The attack sparked a near-24-hour manhunt and drew international attention, including from Italy's prime minister, given the victim's nationality and the rarity of such gun violence in Switzerland.

Police were first alerted to shots fired at the Schachen race track at around 02:30 local time on Sunday, during an event expected to draw 3,500 attendees. The victim, Maria Spinelli, died at the scene, while four men and a woman aged between 24 and 27 were hospitalised with injuries ranging from minor to severe. The suspect was detained shortly before 01:00 on Monday, with police saying he is believed to have acted alone, though the motive remains under investigation. Italy's foreign ministry said it was sending officials to Zurich to monitor the inquiry, and authorities noted this is the country's most serious shooting incident since the 2001 Zug attack.
