A man has been arrested in Oklahoma City after allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail at a man in a wheelchair on a street near the city's police headquarters, according to authorities. The attack, which was captured on surveillance footage and occurred around 8am on 2 July, is notable both for its apparent randomness and for taking place just steps from the police building, allowing officers to intervene almost immediately.

The footage reportedly showed the victim crossing a street diagonally before another man approached, appeared to light something and hurled the incendiary device, briefly engulfing the victim in flames before pushing the wheelchair. A passing vehicle stopped and two people got out, while a nearby police detective and a bystander pulled the victim from the fire and another officer detained the suspect. The victim suffered minor injuries, was treated in hospital and is expected to recover. The suspect faces multiple felony charges, including assault with intent to kill and assault and battery with a deadly weapon, though no motive has been disclosed.
