Man charged a year after daylight kebab shop shooting in Sydney that targeted a notorious underworld figure

Daily Mail · 2 hours ago

A 31-year-old man has been charged over an alleged daylight shooting at an Auburn kebab shop in western Sydney last June, in which three people were seriously injured. Police allege the attack targeted Samimjan Azari, reportedly linked to the Alameddine criminal network, and it has renewed concern about gang-related gun violence and public safety.

Detectives say two masked men fired eight shots inside the shop, injuring Azari, 26, a 25-year-old man who was shot in the head, and a 47-year-old restaurant worker shot several times. The latter two are expected to suffer long-term complications; the accused faces three counts of shooting with intent to murder and was refused police bail, while the alleged second shooter reportedly died overseas last year.
