## Key points

- Foden says he is starting to recover his best form.
- He scored a hat-trick and assisted in City’s 5-1 win over AEK Athens.
- He is focused on City and hopes to earn another England call-up.

## Summary

Phil Foden says he is beginning to regain the form that made him one of the Premier League’s leading players, after a recent run of goals lifted his confidence. The Manchester City midfielder is focused on performing for his club as he seeks to return to England’s plans.

Foden scored 27 goals in all competitions in 2024 and won the Premier League and PFA Player of the Year awards, but a later dip in form cost him a place in England’s 2026 World Cup squad. After a suspension following a red card against Manchester United, he scored his first league goal of the season against Ipswich Town, then recorded a hat-trick and an assist in City’s 5-1 Champions League win over AEK Athens. He said the break helped him return feeling fresh and sharp, and that he has not spoken to England manager Thomas Tuchel since being left out.
