A man has died and five others were injured after a large sign collapsed at the Big Church Festival, a sold-out Christian music event at Wiston Park in West Sussex, prompting organisers to cancel the entire three-day festival. The incident occurred on the opening day, Friday 28 August, at what bills itself as the UK's largest Christian music festival, expected to draw around 40,000 attendees for performances by artists including Lauren Daigle, CeCe Winans and For King & Country.

Sussex Police confirmed a 41-year-old man, later named as Robert Guanco, a pastor at Jesus The Living Water Church in Eastbourne, was pronounced dead at the scene. South East Coast Ambulance Service said five other people were treated on site, four taken to hospital with two suffering more serious injuries. The cause of the collapse remains under investigation, with Sussex Police, Horsham District Council and the Health and Safety Executive involved; organisers have cancelled the festival, which had been due to run until Sunday, and said they would contact ticket holders about refunds.
