Man in his fifties dies after being hit by a jet-ski whilst riding on an inflatable with children off Hampshire coast

Daily Mail · 5 hours ago

A man in his fifties has died after a jet-ski crashed into an inflatable he was riding with his two children off the Hampshire coast on Sunday evening. Emergency services were called to the sea near Calshot Activity Centre in the New Forest at around 6pm following reports of a man in difficulty in the water. He was taken to hospital but died the following day, on Monday, in an incident that highlights the dangers of collisions between watercraft and swimmers or bathers.

The jet-ski rider and the two children were brought safely to shore, while the man on the inflatable required treatment; it is understood he collapsed as he made his way back to land. A large emergency response attended, including Hampshire Police, ambulance crews, RNLI lifeguards and a coastguard rescue team, with the nearby activity centre closed and the public asked to avoid the area. The man has not yet been named, his next of kin have been informed, and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
