A 62-year-old man was fatally stabbed while sitting on a park bench in Round Rock, Texas, shortly after taking his mother, who has Alzheimer's, for a walk. Police say Andrew James Wimsatt was killed in a random, unprovoked attack, and have charged 26-year-old Benedict Ogbodiegwu, described as a career criminal, with his murder. The case has drawn attention partly because the attack was captured on surveillance footage and appeared entirely unmotivated, with investigators confirming the two men did not know each other.

According to an arrest affidavit, Ogbodiegwu approached Wimsatt on the bench around 11am on Monday, restrained him and stabbed him repeatedly before cutting his neck as he lay on the ground, then fled after wiping the knife on his victim's shirt. He was tracked down hours later at a nearby address following a manhunt, and a blade with a red substance on it was recovered. Ogbodiegwu, who has previous dismissed charges including theft and giving police a false name, is held in Williamson County Jail on $1 million bail. Wimsatt, a civil engineer remembered by friends including Fox News host Greg Gutfeld as gentle and generous, has been widely mourned online.
