United's financial difficulties were announced despite a late surge under interim manager Michael Carrick securing third place in the Premier League and Champions League qualification for next season, allowing the club to forecast record revenues of £740m–£760m for fiscal 2027. However, the share price fell 3% in premarket trading following the announcement, suggesting investor concerns about whether record revenues can translate into profitability.
