A married architect and a divorced care-home manager, who were arrested in Argentina after allegedly having sex under a blanket in the business-class cabin of a flight, have had their case dismissed. Mauricio C, 54, and Sandra O, 59, were detained by airport police after cabin crew alerted the captain, but prosecutors have now dropped the investigation after concluding they could not prove the pair intended to expose themselves or offend public decency. The case had drawn attention as an unusual example of alleged mid-air misconduct escalating to a criminal investigation, only for it to collapse for lack of evidence.

The incident took place on a Copa Airlines flight from Panama to Rosario in early May, after a woman travelling with her granddaughter noticed movement under the pair's blanket and alerted a flight attendant. Over a three-month inquiry, prosecutors gathered witness statements, police reports and cabin photographs, but found no CCTV footage and conflicting accounts—one passenger described only kissing, while another said they saw exposed genitals. Sandra claimed the allegations were fabricated by crew after a dispute over a glass of whisky, and prosecutor María Cecilia Marcolin Loberse ruled that Argentine law requires proven deliberate intent to offend, which the evidence did not establish; the file has now been archived, though the dismissal does not confirm the acts never happened.
