## Key points

- Fans suspect Doomsday’s Steve Rogers is a multiverse variant.
- His apparent differences have prompted Secret Wars theories.
- Marvel has not confirmed the speculation.

## Summary

Marvel fans are speculating that Steve Rogers’ altered appearance in the Avengers: Doomsday trailer indicates he is not the original Captain America, but a variant from another universe. The theory matters because it could help establish the multiverse storyline expected to lead into Avengers: Secret Wars, although it remains unconfirmed.

The discussion centres on perceived differences in Rogers’ look and circumstances compared with his previous Marvel appearances. Fans believe these clues may signal a version of the character shaped by a different timeline, fitting the franchise’s recent focus on alternate realities and variants ahead of Secret Wars.
