Marvel Studios has secured its first acting Emmy nomination in five years, with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II earning a nod for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his leading role in the Disney+ series Wonder Man. The nomination is notable because many observers had been sceptical when Marvel chose to submit the show for awards consideration, making the Television Academy's recognition a significant vindication for the studio's recent shift towards prioritising quality over quantity.

Wonder Man was the first Marvel Disney+ show of the year to win widespread acclaim, scoring 91% from critics and 87% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes and earning a rare renewal for a second season. It arrived amid a busy period for the franchise, which released three films in 2025 (Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps) and has Spider-Man: Brand New Day due on 31 July 2026 ahead of Avengers: Doomsday. The last time Marvel drew acting nominations was in 2021, when Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany and Kathryn Hahn were recognised for WandaVision and Don Cheadle for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
