Marvel Is Officially Bringing Back The Punisher’s Biggest Rivalry

Collider · 1 hour ago

Marvel Comics is set to revive one of the Punisher's most notable but rarely-used foes in the second issue of Dan Abnett's series "Punisher vs. The Amazing Spider-Man." The series explores an early, unlikely partnership between Frank Castle and Peter Parker, and matters because it deliberately crosses the two heroes' usually distinct rogues' galleries, with each character forced to confront an enemy typically outside their usual beat.

In the new issue, Spider-Man faces a newly created monstrous villain, while the Punisher squares off against a foe he reportedly hasn't fought in almost twenty years. The pairing continues a long history of overlap between the two vigilantes, who have previously clashed with shared adversaries such as Tombstone and Kingpin, and who most recently teamed up on screen in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" against a possessed Hulk and Jean Grey.

  • Marvel's new comic reunites the Punisher with a long-absent rival
  • "Punisher vs. The Amazing Spider-Man" #2 pairs Frank Castle and Peter Parker
  • Each hero faces a villain usually outside their typical rogues' gallery
