Marvel Just Officially Reopened One of the X-Men’s Most Controversial Debates

Collider · 3 hours ago

Marvel has announced that Betsy Braddock will again use the Psylocke codename in the forthcoming X-Men comic series *Maximum X-Men*, reopening a long-running and controversial debate among readers. The decision matters because Marvel had previously separated Betsy and Kwannon—whose histories were entangled through a body-swap storyline—and established Kwannon as Psylocke while Betsy became Captain Britain.

Launching in December after *Avengers: Armageddon*, *Maximum X-Men* is written by Christopher Yost with art by Tony S. Daniel and follows Storm assembling a team including Wolverine, Colossus, Bishop, Iceman, Firestar and Justice. Marvel has not explained what Betsy’s return to the Psylocke identity means for Kwannon; the team will confront a Negative Zone invasion while filling the gap left by the fallen Avengers.

  • Betsy Braddock will return as Psylocke in *Maximum X-Men*.
  • The move revives debate over Psylocke’s contested identity.
  • Marvel has not stated Kwannon’s future role.
