Marvel Officially Confirms The Punisher’s Past Is Coming Back to Haunt Him

Collider · 3 hours ago

Marvel's ongoing Punisher comic series has confirmed that Frank Castle's violent past is catching up with him, with the latest issue introducing consequences from one of his previous failures. The story matters for fans of the character because it deepens the recurring theme that Castle's brutal one-man war on crime inevitably creates new enemies, adding to his already crowded rogues' gallery alongside long-standing foes such as Jigsaw.

In Benjamin Percy's current run, issue #6 launched a new storyline called "The Long Bullet", introducing a villain named Collateral Damage, a former victim of Frank's who survives thanks to a metal exoskeleton and is driven by rage to kill him. In issue #7, after Frank resumes his crackdown on crime in New York, bodies linked to a single mysterious bullet begin appearing, and while police initially suspect the Punisher, he and his ally Microchip trace the shots back to Collateral Damage, whose sniper skills are said to rival those of Bullseye. Marvel has released preview images showing Frank and Microchip caught in the marksman's sights.
