Rosario Dawson has confirmed that a cameo she filmed for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" was ultimately cut from the finished film, closing off what would have been a direct link between Marvel Studios' Spider-Man franchise and the grounded, street-level world of "Daredevil". Speaking at the Daredevil panel at GalaxyCon, the actress, best known for playing Claire Temple across Netflix's Defenders Saga, revealed she shot a scene for the upcoming sequel that did not make the final cut, saying simply: "I even shot a scene in the new Spider-Man movie, but I got cut out."

Dawson's Claire Temple served as a recurring thread tying together "Daredevil", "Jessica Jones", "Luke Cage", "Iron Fist" and "The Defenders", and fans have long speculated she could resurface as Marvel Studios folds that corner of its universe into the main continuity alongside Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock and Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk. With "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" bringing Tom Holland's Peter Parker back to a more grounded New York setting, and featuring characters such as the Punisher and Scorpion, the cut scene suggests Marvel considered a crossover appearance before deciding against including it in the final release.
