Marvel is bringing Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear and the wider Muppets cast into Marvel Comics in The Muppets Take the Marvel Universe #1. The crossover, marking the 50th anniversary of The Muppet Show, centres on a rescue mission after Rowlf the Dog is kidnapped by Mojo, the X-Men villain who controls the television-focused Mojoverse.

The one-shot features five interconnected stories involving characters including the Avengers, Doctor Strange, Wolverine, Rocket, Groot, Bruce Banner and Hank Pym. The preview shows the Muppets seeking superhero assistance, while Doctor Doom attacks Avengers headquarters and the team considers recruiting new members; the comic includes work from several writers and artists.
