Marvel will launch Alien vs. X-Men, a limited crossover series in September, bringing the X-Men into conflict with the Xenomorphs from Alien. The preview suggests a horror-focused story in which the mutants search for a Phoenix egg but accidentally bring a far deadlier threat back to Earth, allowing the series to place familiar heroes in unusually high-stakes danger.

Written by Kieron Gillen with art by Geraldo Borges, the series appears to be set around the Astonishing X-Men era, featuring Cyclops, Wolverine, Kitty Pryde, Beast and Emma Frost. Preview pages show Wolverine and Multiple Man trapped near Xenomorph eggs, while a four-part back-up story by Chris Claremont will pit the creatures against the Brood; Gillen has also indicated that Storm will play a central, Ripley-like role. Alien vs. X-Men #1 is due on 16 September.
