Marvel’s Biggest Superhero Officially Returns in 2 Days Amid ‘The Odyssey’ Onslaught

Collider · 2 hours ago

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth film in the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man series, is set for release within two days, arriving as Zendaya and Holland continue to enjoy box office success with their other blockbuster, The Odyssey. The two films will now compete against each other commercially, giving the pair an unusual double presence at cinemas. The new film acts as something of a soft reboot following the previous trilogy directed by Jon Watts, with Destin Daniel Cretton taking over directing duties.

Holland reprises Peter Parker, a role he has played since 2016's Captain America: Civil War, alongside Zendaya as M.J. The cast also includes Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, having worked with Holland and Zendaya on The Odyssey, and Sadie Sink in a mysterious new role widely rumoured to be the mutant Jean Grey. Her casting is seen as another step towards the Marvel Cinematic Universe formally introducing the X-Men, following the appearance of legacy X-Men characters in this year's Avengers: Doomsday, ahead of a planned X-Men reboot from director Jake Schreier.
