Mastodon drummer and vocalist Brann Dailor has said the title of the band’s new album, “Marrow Deep”, reflects the profound relationships he had with his late mother and former bandmate Brent Hinds. He described creative collaboration as a particularly deep form of connection, making the title a tribute to both personal loss and the bonds formed through making music.

Released on 28 August through Loma Vista Recordings, the album is Mastodon’s first full-length release without Hinds, who left the band in March 2025 and died in a motorcycle accident five months later. It was co-produced with Patrik Berger and Kurt Ballou, features guitarist Nick Johnston and keyboardist João Nogueira, and will be supported by a US tour beginning on 16 September.
