At the time, most reporting linked Brady to teams such as the Chargers, Raiders or Colts after his Patriots exit, so Berry's rumour column prediction of Tampa Bay was met with scepticism, given he was known as a fantasy analyst rather than a traditional NFL insider.

Berry told OutKick that he spent an hour drinking with the Buccaneers employee, who insisted the team had already worked Brady out and held talks with him, and suggested his wife Gisele Bündchen wanted a South Florida base for easier travel. Berry initially doubted the claim but became convinced as the conversation continued, and duly published it. Brady went on to sign with Tampa Bay and win the Super Bowl in his first season there, vindicating Berry's scoop, which he says came from bar-room chat rather than conventional reporting methods.
