Deadline · 3 hours ago

Matthew McConaughey has said that How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days remains his most lucrative film for residual payments, more than two decades after its release. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he described the romantic comedy as “the gift that keeps on giving” and his favourite romcom, underscoring the film’s continuing commercial and cultural appeal.

The 2003 film, directed by Donald Petrie and co-starring Kate Hudson, follows an advertising executive and magazine writer pursuing conflicting relationship-related bets. McConaughey said residual payments used to rise each March around Valentine’s Day, when DVD and cable viewing increased; Hudson said in 2024 that she and McConaughey would be open to a sequel if the script were right.

  • McConaughey says the film still earns his largest residual payments.
  • He calls it his favourite romantic comedy.
  • Kate Hudson remains open to a sequel.
