- Jaissle retains the hierarchy’s backing.
- Recruitment and financial pressures have left a youthful squad.

## Summary

Newcastle are facing growing pressure as they prepare to visit Fulham, with fans worried by a run of poor results and performances. Head coach Matthias Jaissle has been criticised, but the club’s hierarchy continues to support him as Newcastle adjust to missing out on Champions League football and its financial benefits.

Newcastle are 13th with 11 points and have lost four of their past five matches in all competitions; they have also gone 14 home league games without a clean sheet. Sporting director Ross Wilson signed eight players aged 24 or under for £262.9m, while financial rules contributed to the sales of Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães. The article also notes that a £225m group of signings made under Eddie Howe has underwhelmed, adding to the challenges facing Jaissle’s young squad.
