Max Payne 1 and 2 remake is still happening, but publisher Rockstar won’t let Remedy say any more

GamesRadar+ · 3 hours ago

Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that its remakes of Max Payne and Max Payne 2 are still in development, reassuring fans that the project has not been cancelled. However, the studio says Rockstar Games, which is publishing and funding the project, is controlling what can be disclosed, leaving the remake’s progress and release plans unclear.

The games are being rebuilt as a single new title using Remedy’s Northlight engine, following an agreement announced in 2022. Rockstar owns the Max Payne franchise and will publish the remake, while Remedy is handling development; neither company has provided a release date, gameplay footage or further substantive updates.

  • Max Payne remakes remain in development.
  • Rockstar is restricting further public details.
  • No release date or gameplay has been announced.
