Jim McGuinness will continue as Donegal's senior football manager into 2027, extending his second spell in charge into a fourth season. The decision, confirmed by Donegal GAA on social media on Monday evening, follows a mixed period for the county under McGuinness, who has delivered notable successes but also endured a disappointing recent championship campaign.

McGuinness, 53, guided Donegal to back-to-back Ulster titles in 2024 and 2025 and reached the All-Ireland final in 2025, having also previously led the county to All-Ireland glory in 2012 during his first spell in charge. This year brought a Football League Division One final win over Kerry, but the championship season faltered with a quarter-final exit to Down in the Ulster SFC and an extra-time defeat to Dublin in Round 3 of the All-Ireland series. Separately, Mickey McCann has been reappointed as senior hurling manager for a further two years, continuing in the role he has held since 2018.
