Meet the duo visiting all 16 World Cup venues in a London cab

BBC Sport · 3 hours ago

Englishman Ollie Jenks and his Canadian friend Seth Scott are attempting to drive to all 16 stadiums used at the 2026 World Cup across the United States, Canada and Mexico, covering some 10,000 miles in 39 days. Their unusual twist is that they are doing it in a traditional London black cab, nicknamed "Abby the Cabby", and must reach the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey by 19 July. The story highlights an offbeat, community-minded way of following football's biggest tournament.

The adventure was partly inspired by the 2008 BBC documentary "Stephen Fry in America", and follows a previous 14,000-mile trip the pair made from London to Cape Town in a three-wheeled Reliant Robin in 2025. They found the run-down cab on a Vancouver film set, bought it for £1,000 despite it not having run for seven years, and spent a month repairing it. Along the way they have raised money for charity, offered lifts to supporters from countries including Colombia, Ghana, DR Congo and Argentina, and faced constant breakdowns as well as a police search in Mexico that saw some kit confiscated. Now past the halfway mark and covering around 350 miles a day, they are documenting the trip on social media as "Hold My Gear".
