Meghann Fahy will star in HBO’s limited series The Trial of Louise Woodward, dramatising the 1997 case involving the British au pair accused of killing a baby in Massachusetts. The project revisits a trial that drew intense attention in both the UK and US and raised debates about childcare, class, working mothers and round-the-clock media coverage.

Matthew Barry will write and showrun the series, with Susanne Bier directing and executive producing alongside several producers. Fahy, a two-time Emmy nominee known for HBO’s The White Lotus, previously worked with Bier on Netflix’s The Perfect Couple; filming is due to begin in August ahead of a planned 2027 premiere.
