Mel Gibson’s Brutal Box Office Bomb Is Officially Finding New Life on Streaming
Mel Gibson's little-remembered 2020 action thriller Force of Nature is set to become freely available on the streaming platform Plex from 1 September 2026. The film's arrival comes as attention turns to Gibson's forthcoming two-part biblical epic, The Resurrection of the Christ, a follow-up to his controversial 2004 film The Passion of the Christ, giving renewed relevance to a largely forgotten entry in his filmography.
Force of Nature, directed by Michael Polish, starred Gibson alongside Kate Bosworth and Emile Hirsch in a story pitting the cast against a Category 5 hurricane. The film flopped at the box office, earning less than $500,000 from a limited theatrical release against a reported $23 million budget. The Resurrection of the Christ: Part One, meanwhile, has been pushed back from March to May 2027 to accommodate Johnny Depp's Day Drinker.
