## Key points

- Melania Trump hosted Russian and Ukrainian representatives at the White House.
- The six-day Oleshky ceasefire has expired.
- US-mediated Russia-Ukraine talks are scheduled for 10 and 11 November.

## Summary

Melania Trump hosted Russian and Ukrainian representatives at the White House after helping broker a six-day ceasefire and humanitarian mission in Oleshky, a Russian-controlled city. Donald Trump said he had met privately with Kremlin envoy Kirill Dmitriev and predicted a “big agreement” involving Ukraine and potentially Europe, but gave no details or indication of how it related to the local truce.

The Oleshky ceasefire expired on Sunday, and Melania Trump said she had been involved in planning it, including reviewing aerial images and access to roads and hospitals. Ukrainian officials David Arakhamia and Dmytro Lubinets urged her to continue her peace efforts; she gave both delegations letters addressed to Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky. Separately, US officials met Ukrainian, NATO and European representatives in Brussels to discuss post-war security arrangements, ahead of US-mediated Russia-Ukraine talks scheduled for 10 and 11 November in Abu Dhabi.
