A highly regarded life member of Pakenham Cricket Club in Melbourne has been charged with serious child sex offences, shocking the local sporting community. Dale Robert McCraw, aged 55, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Friday and pleaded not guilty to three charges, including soliciting child abuse material and attempting to engage in sexual activity with someone he believed to be under 16. The allegations against this long-standing club member are particularly striking given his decades of respected involvement in the community.

Police allege that McCraw used electronic communications to solicit sexual activity with a minor and attempt to procure a child for sex, both allegedly occurring on 4 February 2026 in Pakenham, and that he solicited child abuse material on 30 December 2025. Investigators from the Dandenong Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team charged him on 21 February; a fourth charge was withdrawn earlier in the year. McCraw is expected to appear in the County Court at a later date, with no indication that Pakenham Cricket Club or its members were aware of or connected to the allegations.
