US President Donald Trump reportedly left a plane in Turkey secretly last month and travelled on another aircraft because of security concerns involving Iran. Two cabinet members, Marco Rubio and Scott Bessent, stayed on the original aircraft as a decoy, a move intended to preserve continuity of government if anything happened to Trump.

Trump boarded the aircraft on 8 July with the two secretaries and journalists, then reportedly left concealed in a catering truck before being taken to a military plane. The first aircraft retained the “Air Force One” call sign, which applies to whichever plane is carrying the president, while Rubio and Bessent remained aboard because they are fourth and fifth in the presidential line of succession; the White House has not yet commented.
