Meta has unveiled the Muse Charm, a dedicated hardware device for its newly launched Muse AI agent, showcased by CEO Mark Zuckerberg at the Meta Connect event. The compact device resembles a chunky smartwatch without the strap and features a large screen, fingerprint sensor, camera and multiple microphones, allowing users to interact with the AI agent hands-free without unlocking a phone. This move underscores Meta's determination to compete in the emerging and largely unproven AI hardware market.

The Muse Charm is scheduled for release during the December holidays, though Meta has only built a handful of prototypes so far and is still finalising the design details. The device will feature a translucent exterior showcasing its internal components, which Zuckerberg described as an "elevated hacker aesthetic." The Muse agent itself, launched less than a month ago, is capable of taking actions on users' behalf and now includes new features such as Mac computer use and email account control, demonstrating Meta's commitment to building a capable AI assistant to justify the dedicated hardware.
