## Summary

Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett has recorded a reading of Edgar Allan Poe’s 1845 poem “The Raven”, released in time for Halloween. The performance draws on his long-standing interest in horror and brings a classic tale of grief and a mysterious midnight visitor to a new audience.

Hammett is also a collector of horror film memorabilia, including Boris Karloff’s costume from “The Black Cat”, equipment from the original “Frankenstein” laboratory, the axe from “The Shining” and Bela Lugosi’s Dracula cape from “Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein”. He said the objects inspire his music and that he sees himself as a custodian of culturally significant film history.
