Meta’s AI agent Muse is now the No. 2 app in the US
Meta's new AI agent app, Muse, has climbed to the No. 2 spot on the US Apple App Store, boosting investor confidence just days after its Tuesday launch. The app forms a key part of Meta's push into agentic AI, an emerging field the company believes will reshape how people get everyday tasks done, though its uptake so far trails behind some of Meta's own previous launches and rival AI apps.
Muse has been downloaded more than 83,000 times on iOS in the US, where it remains exclusive for now, having risen from fourth to second place on the App Store charts since Wednesday. This is markedly slower than Threads (4.3 million US downloads on day one) or Meta AI (108,000 on debut), and behind ChatGPT's early pace too. Muse is also struggling on Android, ranked only 338th in Google Play's Productivity category, with download figures not yet available. Meta faces stiff competition in the agentic AI space from rivals including Google's Gemini Spark, Anthropic's Claude Cowork, and particularly Instinct, a text-based agent valued at $2.5 billion that is rapidly expanding features such as user email addresses and agent-to-agent social coordination.
