## Key points

- Malachi Toney is uncertain for Miami’s game against Notre Dame.
- He has 1,027 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns this season.
- Miami is No. 1; Notre Dame needs a win to strengthen its play-off hopes.

## Summary

Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney is uncertain to play against Notre Dame on Saturday because of an ankle injury, putting a leading pass-catcher’s availability in doubt for a major game. He is expected to try to play, and the injury is not considered a long-term setback.

The sophomore has 73 catches for 1,027 yards and 13 touchdowns, and is among the Heisman Trophy favourites at +325 odds. Miami, undefeated, entered the first College Football Playoff rankings at No. 1, while 7-1 Notre Dame was placed 11th; a win would keep the Irish in contention for a play-off place.
