‘Miami Vice ’85’ Sets Camila Morrone To Star Alongside Michael B. Jordan And Austin Butler

Deadline · 2 hours ago

Universal's upcoming *Miami Vice '85* has added actor Camila Morrone to its cast, joining leads Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler in the studio's new take on the classic 1980s crime series. The casting adds further star power to a film already building buzz under director Joseph Kosinski, and comes as Morrone rides a wave of momentum following acclaimed television work, making her an increasingly sought-after name in Hollywood.

Kosinski is directing from a script by Dan Gilroy, based on characters created by Anthony Yerkovich for the original series he ran with Michael Mann; Alden Ehrenreich and Whitney Peak have also recently joined the ensemble. The film, produced by Dylan Clark and Kosinski, will be shot for Imax and is scheduled for release on 19 May 2028, with production beginning later this year. Sources say Morrone's final chemistry tests with Butler took place over the weekend, shortly before she was offered the role; she recently starred in Netflix's *Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen* and the second season of *The Night Manager*, and previously earned an Emmy nomination for *Daisy Jones & The Six*.
