Mica Miller’s siblings allege that her estranged husband, South Carolina pastor John-Paul “JP” Miller, arranged her final involuntary admission to a mental-health facility before her death in April 2024. Their claims feature in Netflix’s *Death of the Pastor’s Wife* and form part of their allegation that Mica experienced coercive control during their marriage; authorities nevertheless ruled her death a suicide, and Miller has denied involvement.

Mica, 30, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a North Carolina state park two days after serving divorce papers. Her family says Miller took her vehicle, phone and laptop during hospitalisation, while her divorce affidavit alleged emotional, sexual, spiritual, financial and physical abuse. Separately, he was federally indicted in December 2025 on cyberstalking and false-statements charges relating to alleged conduct before her death; he has pleaded not guilty and is free on a $100,000 bond.
