Michael Latt Legacy Fund Sets Third Cohort of Leading With Love Grantees
The Michael Latt Legacy Fund has announced its third cohort of grantees for its "Leading With Love: Grants in Support of Courageous Creativity" programme, supporting 16 recipients spanning filmmakers, artists, activists, educators and organisations. The fund was established following the death of Michael Latt to back creatives whose work reflects his values of culture, advocacy, storytelling, social impact and community transformation, and this year's awards will be delivered through artist fellowships, advocacy projects, documentary films and organisational support.
Recipients include the SoLa Foundation/Art in Action, returning for a second year to support young artists in South Los Angeles; Protect the Sacred, led by Allie Redhorse Young, focused on Indigenous youth storytelling and cultural programming; and Jon Boogz's Stories Are Living Things, an immersive performance and community project. Individual artist fellows include filmmaker Leo Aguirre, who will receive a Panavision camera package. The fund's founders, Michelle Satter and David Latt, Michael's parents, said the grants reflect his belief that "leading with love" is practised through action. The organisation will also host its first public gathering at Los Angeles's Underground Museum on 4 October to celebrate the foundation and its grantees.
