## Summary

Actor Michael Weatherly is set to rejoin the long-running CBS drama NCIS for Season 24, taking on a season-spanning arc reprising his role as fan-favourite Tony DiNozzo. The casting announcement marks a significant development for the franchise, as Weatherly was instrumental in establishing the show during his tenure as a series regular. His involvement continues a recent pattern of former NCIS principals returning to the flagship series.

The news arrives approximately six months after the cancellation of NCIS: Tony & Ziva, a Paramount+ spinoff that had attempted to continue Weatherly's and Cote de Pablo's on-screen partnership following their years together on the original programme. That short-lived series concluded after its first season, and Weatherly's commitment to the parent show's upcoming run now provides an extended platform to explore the character further within the broader NCIS universe.
