The Rolling Stones have previewed a new song, "Ringing Hollow", from their forthcoming album Foreign Tongues, due out this Friday. Rather than the elaborate rollout used for earlier tracks, Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood, joined by touring keyboardist Matt Clifford, unveiled it with a surprise stripped-down acoustic performance at a listening party held on Wednesday at the St Clement Hotel in London. The track laments the current state of the United States, a theme the band has emphasised throughout their press tour, making it a notable moment in the album's promotion.

The song is highlighted by the lyric "Lady Liberty don't look so good when there's a tear in her gown", and the trio also played "Dead Flowers" and "You Can't Always Get What You Want" at the event. In interviews, Jagger described the song as being about "America as an idea", raising questions about imperial overreach, the lobbying system and election spending, while noting he had lived in New York for 19 years. Keith Richards framed it more nostalgically as a "love affair with America" rooted in the band's 1950s youth and their love of blues musicians such as Muddy Waters, adding that the country was currently "a bit of a disappointment".
