Microdrama Platform Inverted Lands E.J. Joseph’s Series ‘Orevwa’

Deadline · 2 months ago

Microdrama streaming service Inverted (also known as Inverted.Film) has acquired the rights to E.J. Joseph's vertical drama series Orevwa, winning out after what the producers describe as a competitive bidding process. Produced by Best Sellers Productions and K Station Media, the series is being billed as a Black gay vertical drama and follows a young Haitian man caring for his ailing grandmother who forms an unexpected bond with a nursing instructor, prompting him to weigh love, family, responsibility and self-discovery. The deal reflects the growing commercial interest in vertical microdramas as a format for independent creators.

Directed by Sadè Sellers, the show was created by actor Joseph, who co-wrote the scripts with Maalik Evans and Ronté Pritchett and stars alongside Jermell Deshauan; the title Orevwa means "goodbye" in Haitian Creole. Development began in late 2025 when Joseph brought the script to Best Sellers, later partnering with Kala Guess at K Station, and the producers said Inverted's commitment to creator ownership and independent voices made it their preferred choice. Inverted, run by Jason Kiesel and Mat Raney, launched in 2025 promising to prioritise narrative quality and creator ownership over volume, offering creators a 70/30 revenue split; its slate includes titles such as Beneath Crimson Sails, Tides of Desire and Pizza Guys vs. Vampires.
