Microsoft has announced a Windows and Surface event for 7 October in San Francisco, its first major Windows event in more than two years. The company says it will focus on "how local AI will shape the next chapter of the PC", with the presence of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang alongside Microsoft's Satya Nadella and Windows and Surface chief Pavan Davuluri suggesting RTX Spark PCs could be a central theme.

The Verge speculates the event may also bring pricing and availability details for the Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra, plus updates on Windows quality improvements, though a Windows 12 announcement is not expected. Microsoft's previous major Windows event was in May 2024, when it unveiled Arm-based Copilot Plus PCs and a renewed Qualcomm partnership, while the last before that was June 2021's Windows 11 unveiling.
