## Key points

- Two women face charges over an alleged hotel-room robbery.
- The victim reported four unauthorised Apple Pay payments totalling $1,250.
- The teacher was fired and both defendants were released pending trial.

## Summary

A New Jersey middle school teacher and another woman were arrested in connection with an alleged scheme in which a man was restrained and robbed in an Atlantic City casino hotel room. The case has drawn attention because the teacher’s school district confirmed she was fired after her arrest.

Police say the man met the women at a hotel bar on 9 October and later went to their room. He alleged that he was restrained while one woman forced sexual acts on him, and that four Apple Pay transactions totalling $1,250 were made from his phone without consent. Both women were released on 15 October pending trial and must check in with the court every other week; the teacher told a judge she had never been arrested before.
